The earth symbolizes the importance of missions at DeVotie. Matthew 28:19-20 says "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.”
The cross over the earth represents Jesus coming to the Earth. John 3:16 says "God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting life". Because God sent Jesus to the earth to save us, the portion of the earth to the left of the cross is darker than the portion to the right. John 8:12 says, "When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, 'I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.'"Colossians 1:17 says "He is before all things, and in him all things hold together." |
