Our Mission:
DeVotie is a body of believers “reaching up” to God in worship, “reaching out” to a world in need, and “reaching in” to equip and encourage each other, all in the name of Jesus. Our Motto:
Reaching Up At DeVotie, we realize one of our main purposes as Christians is to worship God. As a result, we encourage our members to live lives of worship each day. In fact, the Bible encourages this in the book of Romans- "Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship." Romans 12:1 Reaching Out Telling others about God’s love is one of the greatest commandments given to us. Jesus set a perfect example of what it looks like to “reach out” to others during His time on earth and it is our goal to pattern our lives after His. In Matthew, Jesus commands us to "Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." Matthew 28:19-20 Reaching In As a body of believers, it is our job to lift each other up, encourage one another, and show God’s love to others through the love we share for each other! In John, Jesus said, "My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me." John 17:20-21 Furthermore, Jesus told his followers that their love for each other would be what set them apart from the rest of the world. "By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another." John 13:35 |
